Next, visit top100 (spacetelescope.org)
Tap on Top 100 images. Browse through the first 20, and more if you like... Be awed by the majesty, and look at the photographs in context of 1 Corinthians 2:9. Consider especially:
- #6 - Antennae Galaxies - are you looking at it "full screen"? IS God good or what?! if you tap on the dialogue it expands and provides more information...
- #10. Did you read that the star is equivalent to 800 billion of our suns?
- #16 - Oh, check this out: the star in the center of the butterfly is 220,000 degrees. Unfathomable.
- #19 - Where else in nature have you seen that magnificent design?
Step 3:
Visit http://bomomo.com/a modern art generator. Having been inspired by the vast and overwhelming beauty of God's space captured by the Hubble telescope, make your own art using this online tool. Use the same elements found in the remarkable images of space: color properties, including intensity, value and temperature, texture, shape and space (pun alert!), and form. Also be aware of the principles of composition so richly demonstrated in the photos: rhythm and movement among them. From your experimenting save one or more of your efforts, especially one that achieves balance, unity and rhythm. Copy and paste into your sketchbook, and send a copy via email to me. |
You are accustomed to making art in this space, and you are also familiar with making art at your home... now you are making it "online" - a new medium, too!
