En Plein Air: painting outdoors
Spring is a fantastic time to make art outdoors. There is so much to be inspired by, whether you look up or down, close by or far away, EVERYTHING is ready to be a subject for you to study! Whether you use chalk on concrete, or set up an easel to paint a landscape, or use the natural materials to create compositions, you will be cooperating with nature to make the world more beautiful...
Grant Wood is famous for portraits, he also painted beautiful, stylized landscapes.
St. Bernard 8th graders are familiar with Patrick Dougherty's installation at the Taft Museum in Downtown, Cincinnati, a wonderful interactive space where we can immerse ourselves, cradled in nature's texture...

Architectural murals are a monumental endeavor, and such a benefit to our community when executed successfully. Look at the improvement made in this community - a marriage of creativity and craftsmanship! I know, this would require a TEAM of dedicated artists, and we just can't pull that off during the pandemic. Right, but we CAN PLAN for a project like this, and looking forward to initiating it is a great motivator! It starts with a dream spilled onto paper...

Speaking of interactive, try designing a hopscotch board on a nearby sidewalk for the folks who are walking along in your neighborhood. Best part: no cleanup necessary, the rain will wish it away after it gets a little use!
